P&G Wants to Connect With African-American Women. Najoh Reid Provides the Blueprint and the Rallying Cry
Najoh Tita Reid has one of those classic childhood stories from when she was 4 or 5. One of her white friends wouldn't let her white doll play with Ms. Reid's black doll, which she termed "ugly." Then her friend pointed out the doll's resemblance to Ms. Reid, who went home crying. Her mom, after reassuring Ms. Reid, also got her some Essence and Ebony magazines and put up a "Black Is Beautiful" poster in her bathroom. "This being the 1970s," Ms. Reid said, "it wasn't hard to find." |

Olympic champ lands 100m world titleOSAKA, Japan - Olympic 200-metre champion Veronica Campbell created history on yesterday's third day of competition by becoming the first Jamaican across both genders to win the world 100 metres title at the 11th edition of the championships in the Nagai Stadium.
 Following a less than desirable start, which saw her reacting fifth of the eight finalists, Campbell turned on the afterburner to close the gap on the American trio of Lauryn Williams, Carmelita Jeter and Torri Edwards in the last 30 metres to snatch victory with her trademark lean at the tape. |
